Being Productive

I've complete my first "Big" event. My organization put together a Neighborhood Luau and I was so nervous that it was going to go well. It turns out that there were over 500 people in attendance. I think I"ve gotten a big confidence boost.

Now I've got to worry about school starting in a little over 18 days. I may have a new job lined up. I"m excited!!

Puerto Rico

Wednesday, July 16, 2008
I met the nicest women here in Dallas, she's from Puerto Rico. We hung out little this morning. I wanted to ask her for her number so when we go I could call her and she could show us around, but I didn't want to impose...:-(

Coy Wire

I met Coy Wire here in Dallas. He was speaking at the hotel. He was very inspirational. He enocouraged the people to have lofty aspirations and to keep positive attitudes. He told this story:

While driving in Buffalo, he was approaching a toll booth and he heard this blasting music. He looked around to see who was hosting a rock concert in their car but noticed that everyone had their windows up but proceeded to approach the booth and noticed that the man collecting his money was playing the music. He asked the man, "what are you doing?" and he replied, "I'm having a party while dancing around." He asked what about the other people at the other booths, "they aren't invited?" and they laughed as he went along his way. He was intrigued by this man and wanted to find him to ask him more questions because at the time he couldn't because there were others in line after him.

A month later, he drove up to the same booth and heard the music and the guy was dancing and having a good time. He asked him again," what are you doing?" and the man replied, "i'm having a party," and then he recognized him from before. When Coy realized that he recognized him, he asked, "you having the same party as before?'" and the guy explained that he wanted to be a dancer. He asked about his co-workers and the man replied, "aw they in vertical coffins, they come to work at 8 every morning and die and like Lazarus raise from the dead at 4:30 to go home." He said, "see me, I've got the best job, my goal is to become a dancer and my job pays for my training, I've got the best office with windows on all sides." Coy was very intrigued by this man and then the man said, "I even got pretty ladies giving me money all day." They both shared a laugh and Coy invited him to lunch to talk more becuase he couldn't believe that someone has this type of attitude on this type of job.

Coy was letting the people know that a positive attitude can change the outcome of anything. After his speech I was leaving the hotel and noticed Coy standing talking to a couple of people. I wanted to let him know that I heard his speech and enjoyed it and I wanted to ask him for a picture. One lady standing next to him was looking around so I asked her if he would mind and she said that he was a nice man and that I should ask. So I did. I told him that I enjoyed his speech and that I was a teacher and the very first lesson I taught was about attitude and that I was gonna use his story with my students. He told me to go ahead and I asked for a picture of him and his wife.

Working Hard for My Money

Monday, July 14, 2008
I spent all last week working and working and working. Now I'm going to Dallas on tomorrow to sleep and sleep and sleep. I've been debating about going to see some sights, but I need to catch up on my sleeping. Plus, as long as I'm sleeping I'm not eating. I stepped on a scale at Walmart this morning and it read 180lbs. Ugh. I need to lose 5 lbs before I go hang out on the beach in Puerto Rico.

Btw, I did get my ticket at a good price--cheaper than what I saw when I first looked, so I'm glad I waited.

Because I've been so busy I haven't had time to clean up. My place is a mess, shoes and clothes everywhere. My sis is in town (thank you Jesus) and she wants to stay at my place while I'm gone. I'm a little hesitant. I don't want anyone shacking in my bed. Do that during ur free time, not in my bed. Ugh. I'm really uncomfortable. I can see if she asked for herself, but for him too. I don't know. Ima pray a little more about that one. In the mean time I'm gonna clean and pack and go to work for a couple of hours--babysitting, I mean teaching my one student. I got some evil looks when I went to the classroom this morning. I don't know if they are mad at me cause I got it easy or what, but I'm glad that God has favored me. I don't know if I would have gotten anything done if I had to teach all last week. Thank you Jesus!!

Ms. Piggy & the 4th of July

Monday, July 07, 2008
I've been eating like a pig. Little Debbie just won't leave me a alone, ugh.

I went home to visit my fam for the 4th. I really wasn't gonna go, but since my sis and her bf was driving I decided to hitch a ride. Now I remember why I didn't like to visit home in the first place. Instead of being happy to see that a person is okay, the first thing that was said as we walked in the door was negative. THey had a problem with my lil sis' shorts. So what her shorts were short, they weren't in her booty and she's 18. 18 year old girls wear short shorts, as a matter of fact you can't buy too many shorts that are longer these days so why give her a hard time as soon as she walk in the door. No, "Hi, how u been doing? I havn't I'm glad to see that you are looking well even though I haven't seen u in a year. " Dag, give me a break. UGH! Then there was some comment about me, "captain save a ...." I"m not sure what that meant and I didn't want to get into it, but man they are brutal. I'll wait another 5 years before I go back.

My sis and her bf did visit church with me on Sunday. I was happy to have a guest. THey said they would be back on Tuesday. Kevin, her bf, said that he did like the church. I"m happy. Hopefully, he becomes a member. He could use the support.
